“ Madrid has turned into the fable of Europe . It is called the capital of joy and of contentment. Describing our city in such terms means that it is welcoming, cordial, free, peaceful and universal .” Quote from Enrique Tierno Galván, former Mayor of Madrid. On weekends, students will spend one day visiting one of the cities of interest close to Madrid : Toledo , Segovia , El Escorial and Aranjuez. In Toledo , the Puerta de Bisagra welcomes visitors from all over. Directly above this great door you will find the imperial coat of arms from Carlos V. Behind it, the fascinating world of monumental sights becomes apparent, with its intimate corners, streets and squares. The Zocodover square is especially famous and is considered the bustling heart of Toledo city. El Escorial and Segovia are considered of great interest, both historically and monumentally. As part of the program, students will enjoy a three-day escape to the famous city of Sevilla , in Andalucia, or opt to visit the town of Javea , on the eastern Mediterranean coast of Alicante , near Valencia . Sevilla is famous for its gastronomy and the typical flamenco dancing, its Moorish gardens and the Giralda monument. Javea has wonderful beaches and a fascinating coastline, enjoying great weather all year round.
